Epic adventure

I woke up this morning with a start.

"I slept in!" was echoing in the background but I was still stuck in dream world.   I was in the middle of the forest trying to cross a log that kept changing size.  The log stretched out across a muddy rushing creek, it was pouring rain and I had a huge buffalo sized carrot in tow.  I could barely drag it along the ground!  The height of the watery ravine also changed.  The log would drop a foot, then three.  While I was struggling,  a girl I barely know (IRL) showed up and awkwardly asked if I needed help.  You know, with....my giant carrot.  I said that yes, I probably did.

We both fought with the carrot as two semi-strangers coming together to solve a problem would.  Uncomfortably, with small bouts of insecure laughter here and there.

I'm sad to say that things looked bleak for dream me, the log had dropped at least 6 feet and the carrot had fallen into the water.

To be continued this evening?!??!

I've been trying to do a sketch a day.  I've never come close to doing something like this before, which is pretty ridiculous when you think about it.  In fact, I don't really draw much at all...terrible.  It's rewarding to look down to see a pile of sketches looking back at you.  Even if they aren't that good, or are completely random & will never be used for anything.  The accomplishment feeds me & shoves me forward.  Not to mention, I think I'm getting better by the day!

Here's the first batch.

The lion was inspired by a television show I was watching at the time called "Into the Pride".  I found it really frustrating that some dude(Dave Salmoni) decided he had the right to order magnificent beasts charging him to "Cut it out" as if they were dogs scrapping over a bone or something.  In reality, they were suggesting his gangly human ass get the hell out of their business & more than likely loling inside as he waved his stick around.

People are so weird.

Hot chocolate & rum, a feral kitten and the faint scent of soiled pine.  I'm burning pieces of my hair bright and unintentionally listening to Ani  Difranco.  There isn't much else to say about tonight, is there?
